Pattani: Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, recently inspected the Forward Command of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 (ISOC Region 4) at Sirindhorn Camp, Yarang District, Pattani Province. Accompanied by his entourage, Mr. Phumtham traveled by helicopter from Wing 56 in Khlong Hoi Khong District, Songkhla Province, and was received by Maj. Gen. Worawut Dechaksa, Deputy Commander of the 4th Army.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham was briefed on the current situation and operational guidelines of ISOC Region 4 Forward Command. The briefing covered crucial tasks aligned with policy directives such as area control, law enforcement, drug prevention, fostering coexistence in a multicultural society, and integrating security and development efforts.
Mr. Phumtham addressed the personnel and commanders, emphasizing the need to resolve ongoing issues while acknowledging that immediate resolutions were unlikely. He highlighted the application of the royal philosophy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great-'Understand, Reach, Develop'-as essential to prioritizing and addressing security challenges.
He noted the evolving nature of global threats and underscored the importance of a broad interpretation of security. This includes prioritizing peace and opportunities, particularly in education, employment, and healthcare. Mr. Phumtham stressed the role of the National Security Council (NSC) in enforcing laws to counteract and prevent threats effectively.
Mr. Phumtham proposed a clear and continuous strategy for urgent problem-solving, advocating for integrated efforts with unified command. He emphasized border security as a strategic asset for both Thailand and Malaysia, aimed at job creation and regional peace. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of leveraging technology in operations and ensuring rapid response to disasters.
