Phumtham Unveils Five Strategic Policies to Propel Bangkok Towards Sustainable Progress

Bangkok: Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, introduced five pivotal policies aimed at transforming Bangkok into a city of sustainable happiness. During an urgent policy meeting held at the Government House, key officials including Ms. Thirat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, were present to discuss the strategic roadmap.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham emphasized the significance of Bangkok as the central hub for economic, cultural, and urban management activities in Thailand. The city faces numerous challenges such as traffic congestion, environmental issues, and social inequality. The Ministry of Interior, overseeing local government administration, is urging Bangkok to implement these urgent policies to achieve tangible improvements.

The outlined policies include a comprehensive approach to drug prevention and resolution, emphasizing community involvement and rehabilitation. The strategy aims to transform risk areas into drug-free zones and enhance the rehabilitation process for addicts. Another policy focuses on establishing social order by curbing illegal activities and ensuring public and economic areas adhere to legal standards, using the 'Sukhumvit Model' as a benchmark.

Improving the quality of life for Bangkok's residents is another priority, with a focus on providing universal access to welfare, enhancing economic opportunities, and promoting the creative economy. The government plans to support modern trade platforms and vocational training, particularly for low-income groups.

The transformation of government services is also a key policy, with an emphasis on shifting to a fast, modern service model that leverages digital technology for efficiency. Additionally, the government is committed to resolving public complaints with urgency and precision, utilizing platforms like Traffy Fondue to integrate and address issues effectively.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is also encouraged to support a fixed 20-baht fare for the entire electric train line, a measure intended to alleviate public transportation costs. The Ministry of Interior pledges to collaborate closely with Bangkok to ensure effective policy implementation and tangible outcomes for its citizens.
