Bangkok: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, addressed the media regarding the ongoing investigation into alleged collusion between the Senate and money laundering activities. He emphasized that there is no agreement or deal involved in the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham's statements came after the Special Case Committee announced that the investigation into the Senate's alleged collusion would be treated as a special case of money laundering. The announcement followed the collapse of discussions at Baan Chan Song La, which had raised questions about potential deals or agreements being made.
Mr. Phumtham expressed his frustration with the media's portrayal of the situation as a deal, stating, "What are you thinking of as a deal? The board doesn't know about deals with anyone. There's no deal in this."
When asked about the potential impact of the investigation's findings on the impending no-confidence motion against the prime minister, Mr. Phumtham suggested that the outcome was not a concern. He remarked that regardless of the result, there would always be aspects to discuss and consider appropriately.
Mr. Phumtham refrained from commenting on whether the no-confidence debate would proceed without issues, maintaining an indifferent demeanor and leaving the question unanswered.
