Bangkok: "Phradon" has called upon the House of Representatives to expedite discussions on the cancellation of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) 43-44, urging that the nation's interests be prioritized. Results are expected next week, and Phradon emphasized the importance of not hastily closing parliamentary meetings.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul, a Member of Parliament for Ang Thong and a member of the Bhumjaithai Party, highlighted the necessity of bringing the issue of the MOUs between Thailand and Cambodia from 2000 and 2001 to the forefront of parliamentary debate due to its impact on "national security." Despite previous attempts to address this, progress has stalled due to the adjournment of parliamentary sessions.
Mr. Paradorn stated that the upcoming week will see a concerted effort to push the issue forward, following the submission of an urgent motion. He stressed the importance of openness and receptiveness within the House to consider critical national issues, emphasizing that the matter transcends political games and requires prompt attention.
Mr. Paradorn pointed out Cambodia's failure to honor past agreements with Thailand, affecting bilateral relations and national interests. He argued that Thailand must re-engage in discussions with a focus on national priorities and that these discussions should commence without further delay.
He also called on his fellow parliamentarians to avoid prematurely closing meetings or neglecting significant issues, urging them to take responsibility for the nation's ongoing security concerns. Mr. Paradorn emphasized that this matter concerns the entire nation, not just any single political party.
