Pheu Thai Party Strategizes for Government Policy Debate with Key Leaders

Bangkok: Suthin, Chaturon, Chulaphan, and Cholanat spearhead the Pheu Thai Party's initiative to critically evaluate government policies, concentrating on policy and personnel aspects, emphasizing the importance of ministerial qualifications.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Cholnan Srikaew, a Pheu Thai Party MP for Nan, expressed the party's preparedness to engage in a debate concerning the government policy statement of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Although the exact dates were initially uncertain, it is now expected that the debate will occur on September 29-30. A meeting on September 19 saw the Pheu Thai Party assigning a working group to orchestrate the debate preparations. This team, led by Mr. Suthin Khlangsaeng, Mr. Chaturon Chaisang, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, and Dr. Cholnan himself, will focus on two primary topics: the policies to be announced and the qualifications of the appointed ministers.

Dr. Cholanat highlighted the approach for the two-day debate, noting that content division was not based on individuals but on parliamentary participation. The debate will involve three main groups: Senators, Members of Parliament, and Members of Parliament who either support or disapprove of the policies. Hence, the debate time will be allocated accordingly, necessitating at least two days of thorough discussion.

Regarding the finalized Cabinet and the qualifications of its members, Dr. Cholanat mentioned that the Pheu Thai Party is scrutinizing ministerial qualifications under individual debate categories. The focus is on identifying any prohibited qualifications for administration, which is a critical issue the team is preparing to address.
