Pheu Thai Party Secretary Confirms PM Will Not Resign or Dissolve Parliament

Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party Secretary confirms the Prime Minister will not resign or dissolve the parliament after the 69 budget passed the third reading, as reported in the news. He will continue working to solve the Thai-Cambodian border problem, Trump's tax, and other policies. He asked that politics not overshadow important goals.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports and Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, posted a message on social media refuting rumors about the Prime Minister's resignation or dissolution of the House of Representatives. The rumors suggested that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, might consider resigning or dissolving the House after the fiscal year 2026 budget bill passed its third reading.

Mr. Thienthong emphasized that the Prime Minister is committed to addressing the country's various crises, including the Thai-Cambodian border issue and the Trump tax crisis. The government is implementing more stringent countermeasures on the border problem and is actively negotiating to resolve the tax crisis.

The government aims to utilize the remaining time in the Prime Minister's term to advance several policies. These include drug suppression, tackling technological crimes, reducing living costs through the 20-baht flat-rate electric train project, and improving healthcare quality via the 30-baht treatment everywhere project. Additionally, efforts are being made to create new tourist attractions to boost the economy and address citizens' debts.

Moreover, the government is working on a participatory process to amend the constitution, aiming to establish fairer democratic rules. Mr. Thienthong stressed the importance of governmental stability and continuity to achieve these objectives.

He urged those spreading false information to prioritize the country's and people's interests. The government, having received its mandate from the people, is dedicated to fulfilling its responsibilities until the end of its term.
