OR and Thai Lion Air Partner to Implement Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Flights

Bangkok: OR has entered into a partnership with Thai Lion Air to implement sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on both domestic and international flights, marking a significant move towards a clean energy future for the Thai aviation industry.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Paisarn Udomkulvanich, Executive Vice President of Energy Solutions Business at PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), and Mr. Aswin Yangkirativorn, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Lion Air, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to initiate the use of SAF. This collaboration is a part of OR's commitment to developing alternative energy solutions that support carbon reduction and promote sustainable clean energy in Thai society.

Mr. Paisarn emphasized that this partnership with Thai Lion Air represents a crucial step for the Thai aviation sector. The goal is to jointly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and establish a new sustainability benchmark for the regional industry.

Mr. Aswin highlighted that the agreement underscores Thai Lion Air's dedication as a low-cost carrier to sustainability. This initiative aligns with the broader regional and international focus on minimizing environmental impacts, a core aspect of the airline's sustainability development plan.

SAF is a pioneering energy innovation capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% throughout its production lifecycle. It is compatible with existing aircraft and engines, which enhances energy security, reduces the dependency on fossil fuels, and supports the development of Thailand's circular economy.

The collaboration between OR and Thai Lion Air is expected to boost the Thai aviation industry's competitiveness and demonstrates Thailand's readiness to become a leader in clean energy within the region.
