Opening of the BRICS Leaders’ Meeting: Jiraporn Leads the Thai Delegation to the Meeting

Rio de janeiro: The 17th BRICS Summit opened in Brazil. "Jiraporn" led the Thai delegation to the meeting as a partner country for the first time. The 17th BRICS Summit has begun in Rio de Janeiro, the Federative Republic of Brazil. Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuprai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, as the head of the Thai delegation, met with leaders from more than 27 BRICS member countries, partner countries, invited countries worldwide, and representatives of international organizations such as the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization. They discussed ways to strengthen the multilateral system that benefits developing countries, the global economic and financial structure, and ways to promote AI governance.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn presented Thailand's role in mobilizing funds for development, reforming the international financial architecture, and pushing for international cooperation on artificial intelligence to address transnational crime, money laundering, and digital crime. On July 7, 2025, Ms. Jiraporn is scheduled to deliver a statement on Advancing Global Health and Climate Action through Inclusive Multilateralism.

BRICS is becoming increasingly important internationally because the BRICS members currently account for almost half of the world's population, with a combined GDP of 27.1 percent of global GDP. In 2025, the IMF estimates that the BRICS economy will expand at a rate of 4.2 percent.
