Hat Yai: The Online Sports Journalists Association, in collaboration with the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund, has launched the 'Sports Media Skills Development and Sports Media Literacy Project' for 2025 at the Harsa JB Hotel in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province. The event was chaired by Mr. Jirawat Maneechote, Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province, and attended by Mr. Wankla Kwankaew, President of the Online Sports Journalists Association, Mr. Phonprasit Leksutthi, Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Region 4, and Ms. Uraiwan Chanlap, Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Songkhla Province. More than 40 media personnel from the South participated in the training.
According to Thai News Agency, the training featured speakers sharing their knowledge and experiences about the media industry. 'Addy' Weerasak Nilklad, a renowned sports commentator, discussed his extensive career in the sports industry. Dr. Srida Tantha-atipanich from the Internet Foundation for the Development of Thailand spoke on reporting news responsibly, while Dr. Nat Theeranat-Suphanon, President of the Sports Development Fund Foundation, addressed the Computer Crime Act and media ethics.
The event also included a special lecture by ML Oras Devakul on sustainable marketing and sponsorship, and presentations by Kritchai Khuntho, editor of Thairath TV, Peerapong Thong-U-lert, editor of Siam Sport Online, and Klanarong Machoke, sports news announcer of TNN24, on content creation and social media management.
Mr. Wankla Kwankaew stated that this is the second year of the Sports Media Skills Development and Sports Media Literacy Project, with plans for five training sessions across five regions in 2025. The next session will be in Nakhon Sawan Province on March 9, followed by sessions in Nakhon Ratchasima, Sa Kaeo, and Bangkok.
The training is supported by the Sports Development Fund Foundation, Muang Thai Insurance Public Company Limited, Grand Sport, and Yamaha. Interested individuals can register for upcoming sessions, with a cap of 35 participants per session.
