OBEC Begins Accepting Applications for Basic Education Knowledge Level Examination

Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is now accepting applications for the Basic Education Knowledge Level Examination, inviting Thai students and the general public to participate in this opportunity to gain educational qualifications.

According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Non-Formal Education (DNF) is facilitating the application process for the first round of registered subjects from April 4 to April 10, with the eligibility list to be announced on April 18, 2025, via an online platform. The DNF is collaborating with the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS) to conduct an equivalency test on April 26-27, 2025, with no fees imposed on applicants. Interested individuals can apply online or at designated Learning Promotion Centers across the nation.

The examination aims to provide educational qualifications at primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary levels. Applications are open to individuals of all ages, with parental consent required for those under 20. Applicants must possess educational qualifications one level lower than the level they wish to achieve, except for the primary level equivalency test.

The second and third rounds of the examination are scheduled for June and July 2025, respectively. The exam will assess knowledge based on the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551, covering eight learning groups. Upper secondary students have the option to choose between general or science-mathematics examination plans. Successful candidates will attend an academic seminar to evaluate various competencies and receive an educational certificate, enabling them to pursue further studies or employment.

This initiative aims to provide equal education opportunities, emphasizing self-learning and granting the same rights as traditional educational pathways.
