Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has announced that temperatures in northern Thailand are expected to decrease by 1-2 degrees Celsius, accompanied by strong winds. The onset of cold weather will bring cooler mornings to the North and Northeast regions, prompting authorities to advise residents to take precautions for their health amidst these changing weather conditions. According to Thai News Agency, the forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that a high-pressure area, or a moderate cold air mass from China, will extend over the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea. This atmospheric shift is responsible for the anticipated temperature drop and strong winds in the affected areas. The chill is expected to be more pronounced in the morning, especially in the northern and northeastern regions, where residents are urged to protect themselves from the cold. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the South is intensifying, resulting in thunderstorms in the southern region . The Gulf of Thailand is experiencing moderate wave activity, with wave heights reaching 1-2 meters, and even higher in areas affected by thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid navigating through regions with thunderstorms. Furthermore, the severe tropical storm 'MAN-YI', currently positioned in the upper South China Sea, is projected to approach Hainan Island, China, between November 19-20, 2024. The storm is anticipated to weaken into a depression and later transform into a strong low-pressure cell. Travelers planning to visit the affected areas are advised to monitor weather updates and exercise caution during this period. In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with strong winds. The minimum temperature is predicted to be between 24-26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is likely to reach 33-34 degrees Celsius.
