Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has announced significant weather changes across Thailand, with the northeastern region experiencing a slight temperature drop and the upper southern region facing heavy to very heavy rain. People residing in these areas have been advised to exercise caution due to the potential dangers associated with heavy rainfall, such as flash floods and forest runoff. According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that a monsoon trough is currently passing through the southern region, accompanied by a low-pressure cell that is moving into the Andaman Sea. This situation, combined with a moderate northeast monsoon over the upper Gulf of Thailand and the upper southern region, is contributing to the expected heavy rainfall in parts of the south. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, particularly those in hilly areas near waterways and lowlands where flash floods and runoff are more likely. The maritime conditions are also expected to be modera te, with the upper Gulf of Thailand experiencing waves of 1-2 meters and the lower Gulf and Andaman Sea having waves around 1 meter. In areas affected by thunderstorms, wave heights could exceed 2 meters, prompting a warning for sailors to proceed with caution and avoid thunderstorm-affected zones. Additionally, a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China is anticipated to spread over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, leading to cooler morning temperatures in these regions. The Northeastern region will see a slight temperature decrease, alongside isolated thunderstorms in the Eastern and Lower Central regions. Residents are advised to pay attention to their health due to the fluctuating weather conditions, and farmers are encouraged to protect their agricultural products from potential damage. In Bangkok and surrounding areas, thunderstorms are expected in 30 percent of the region, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 24-25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 31-33 degrees Celsius.
