NGV Freezes LPG Prices for Another 3 Months to Alleviate Living Costs

Bangkok: The National Oil Fund has announced a decision to freeze the price of LPG for a further three months to help alleviate the cost of living for citizens. Additionally, the price of oil is set to be reduced by 50 satang per liter starting tomorrow, as part of efforts to ease financial burdens.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, who also serves as the Chairman of the Energy Policy Administration Committee (EPAC), disclosed that the recent EPAC meeting addressed the issue of cooking gas (LPG) pricing. This follows a meeting of the Oil Fund Administration Committee (OILF) earlier in the week, where it was decided to reduce oil prices by 1 baht per liter, a measure that will take full effect on April 4. The initial reduction of 50 satang per liter will commence tomorrow.

Today, it was confirmed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) that the price of cooking gas will remain at 423 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder until the end of June. Although there was an initial proposal to increase the price to 438 baht, the committee concluded that maintaining the price at 423 baht was feasible and would prevent additional financial strain on the public. Minister Pirapan emphasized that this decision aligns with the government's ongoing policy to reduce energy prices and mitigate living expenses for the population.
