Bangkok: The people express their condolences for Her Majesty the Queen Mother. People expressed their condolences after the Bureau of the Royal Household announced the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
According to Thai News Agency, in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, officials from the Royal Household Bureau and the city municipality tied black and white cloth along the fence of Siriyalai Palace to express their condolences and pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Siriyalai Palace, located opposite Wat Chaiwatthanaram, was built during the reign of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and served as her residence when visiting Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It was built with Her Majesty’s personal funds.
Additionally, at Wat Sala Poon Worawihan, officials began displaying black and white cloth in tribute and highest respect. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality will display black and white cloth in various locations throughout the area to commemorate His Majesty’s grace.
In Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, Photharam Hospital staff decorated the front fence with black and white cloth and lowered the national flag to half-mast to express their condolences. The atmosphere in the hospital was filled with sadness, with people wearing black to show their respect and mourning.
In Phang Nga Province, renowned singer-songwriter and artist Ko Kai Chumphon Thongtan performed the piano version of “Nai Duang Jai Niran,” a song King Rama IX composed for Her Majesty the Queen Mother to express his condolences. He expressed his heartbreak and sorrow upon hearing the news this morning and expressed his gratitude for Her Majesty’s kindness and generosity towards his subjects, particularly the Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre project, which created jobs for locals, as well as various projects and natural resource projects. His Majesty stated that if His Majesty were water, he would be the forest, a forest that is loyal to the water. He intends to compose a song in his memory.
