Residents of Nakhon Si Thammarat expressed their heartfelt appreciation for Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s efforts in creating employment opportunities through the Arts and Crafts Promotion Project, particularly highlighting the significance of the Yan Lipao bags. Meanwhile, students from Yasothon conveyed their gratitude for Her Majesty’s royal duties in aiding the underprivileged in remote locations.
According to Thai News Agency, people continue to gather at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. It has been noted that visitors come from various provinces, including Bangkok and those originally from other regions now residing in the city. This gathering has prompted reflections on Her Majesty’s extensive royal duties carried out across the nation.
Ms. Pikun Duangkong, a 64-year-old resident of Nakhon Si Thammarat, shared her commitment to pay respects and show loyalty. She recalled her childhood in a remote area with challenging roads until His Majesty the King initiated projects that improved local livelihoods. Notably, the promotion of yam lipao bags and the creation of a weaving group have provided a stable source of income for many, a legacy that endures. Ms. Pikun expressed that this inspired her to instill values of good citizenship in her children.
Mr. Worakorn Khemphet, a 21-year-old student from Yasothon Province, traveled to Bangkok for an exam and upon hearing the news, felt compelled to come. Although not directly witnessing His Majesty’s work, his parents often took him to see His Majesty as a child, sparking his interest in royal duties. His community has benefited from the Nong Ueng Area Development Project, addressing drought issues, and he personally received a scholarship from the Red Cross Society’s Royal Honor Project, fueling his determination to express gratitude.
Throughout the afternoon, individuals gathered with portraits of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, cherishing memories of her contributions. The Thai Red Cross Society at Chulalongkorn Hospital has arranged resting areas for visitors and continues to provide regular services. Preparations are underway for the public to sign condolences, allowing residents of Nakhon Si Thammarat and beyond to honor and remember Her Majesty’s grace and dedication.
