NACC, NACC orders investigation and further investigation into the case of "Chan Phuangphet" and his associates purchasing exercise equipment at excessive prices before considering whether to indict or not. Mr. Niwatchai Kasem Mongkol, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), gave an interview about the progress of the investigation into the allegations against Mr. Chan Puangpetch, when he was the president of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, and his associates, who purchased exercise equipment for the Pathum Thani PAO at inflated prices between 2012 and 2013. He said that the investigation into the case was complete and had been submitted to the NACC meeting. However, the NACC meeting resolved to conduct additional investigations and expand the results because it was found that there were still many other people involved. Therefore, additional investigations were ordered to be conducted into the individuals involved in the exercise equipment procurement p rocess, who could be government officials or private individuals. As for the normal operational framework of the officials, the investigation will be conducted within 3 months and when it is complete, it will be brought to the NACC meeting for consideration of whether or not to make a resolution to indict. If it is found that there has been wrongdoing, the matter will be forwarded to the Attorney General to order a criminal prosecution and forwarded to the Minister of the Interior to proceed with removing him from office.
