Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) chairman announced the formation of an investigation committee to look into the case involving an audio clip of a conversation between the Prime Minister and Samdech Hun Sen. The chairman, Mr. Suchart Trakulkesomsuk, leads the committee himself and expects the investigation to adhere to the 2+1 year framework. He expressed no concern over handling the case.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart explained that after the NACC received the complaint, it followed the standard procedure of accepting the case for investigation. If warranted, the case would then be forwarded to the main committee to form an investigation committee. The case has now reached this investigation stage, and the entire NACC committee is involved, with Mr. Prapass Kong-iet assisting Mr. Suchart in overseeing the proceedings.
The investigation is expected to follow the legal time frame of two years, with an additional year if necessary. However, Mr. Suchart has implemented a policy to expedite significant cases that garner public interest, ensuring they are resolved within a clear time frame.
When questioned about his confidence in handling such a case, Mr. Suchart stated he was not worried. He emphasized his extensive experience overseeing political office matters and working on similar cases throughout his career, which equips him to manage this investigation effectively.
