Mae sot: Over 1,000 scammers have flooded the Mae Sot border as Myanmar soldiers continue their aggressive operation in the Myawaddy District.
According to Thai News Agency, the Myanmar military raid on a Chinese mafia scam den within the KK Park China Special Economic Zone project has been ongoing for more than three days. The military has surrounded and controlled all areas of KK Park, recently bombing three buildings used by Chinese mafia groups and their protection forces.
The military operation has also freed scam victims from various countries who were forced to work in cybercrime. Today, soldiers plan to scan every square inch of KK Park once again, targeting and destroying buildings suspected of facilitating cybercrime activities.
In a parallel development, more than 1,000 scammers have crossed the border into the Mae Sot District. Among them are 399 Indians, 147 Chinese, and 31 Thais, along with individuals from other countries. These individuals have been detained and screened at various checkpoints including the Mae Sot Police Station and the 346th Border Patrol Police Company. The latest count stands at 1,049, with numbers rising hourly.
Thai authorities have responded by setting up checkpoints along the Moei River on the Thai-Myanmar border, maintaining 24-hour vigilance at natural crossings. They have also increased provisions such as food, water, and medicine to assist those fleeing, adhering to humanitarian principles. Efforts have been reinforced to screen individuals for criminal involvement and provide assistance to victims of deception.
