Ms. Golf Spends First Night in Prison Under Quarantine Measures

Bangkok: Ms. Kanokwan Jiwchueaphan, deputy spokesperson of the Department of Corrections, revealed that yesterday, July 17, the Central Women's Correctional Institution accepted Ms. Wilawan, known as "Ms. Golf," according to the detention warrant issued during an investigation by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. Ms. Golf has been placed into a pretrial detention area, adhering to the standard admission process, and is quarantined as part of preventive measures against infectious diseases. During her initial time in quarantine with other new inmates, she communicated with officers and fellow detainees, displaying no signs of unusual or isolating behavior. She will remain in quarantine for 5 days before any potential transfer to another prison section is considered.

According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Kanokwan reported that a routine general health check revealed no chronic diseases for Ms. Golf. She cooperated well by providing her information and history to the prison authorities. For dinner on July 17, she was served steamed rice, sweet potato soup with chicken, red chili paste, and fresh vegetables. Although she ate only a small portion and spoke little, her demeanor appeared worried but not overtly stressed or sad. Ms. Golf managed to get some sleep and listened to information regarding expected behavior in prison, showing no particular need to ask questions or make special requests.

Ms. Golf is currently under a 12-day detention warrant during the investigation phase. The charges against her involve 'supporting the commission of an offense by a public official related to purchasing, managing, or maintaining property, embezzling property through fraud, supporting a public official in improperly performing or omitting duties that result in damage to others, and other related offenses including receiving stolen goods, collusion to launder money, and money laundering.
