Gang Leader Arrested for 3.4 Million Baht Robbery in Shopping Mall

Bangkok: "Suea Pun," the leader of a gang responsible for a high-profile robbery of 3.4 million baht at a renowned shopping mall, has been apprehended by Metropolitan Police detectives. The arrest took place after the suspect fled to a rented house in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani Province. Authorities are still on the lookout for one remaining suspect who is currently at large.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved seven criminals from the Japanese Tiger Gang, who executed the robbery using guns and knives. The robbery targeted a cryptocurrency buyer and occurred in the parking lot of the shopping mall on the night of June 30.

Recent developments led Pol. Col. Chotiwat Luengwilai, Commander of the Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Bureau, alongside Pol. Col. Sittisak Nakamat and other officers, to arrest 43-year-old Worawat, also known as Suea Pun, and his 35-year-old accomplice, Mr. Ball. Both were identified as suspects by a Criminal Court warrant for jointly robbing property with weapons at night, facilitated by a vehicle. The arrests were executed at a rented house, where evidence including a .365 magazine-loaded pistol, ammunition, cash, and a sedan with a fake license plate were discovered. The suspects were subsequently taken to the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Crime Suppression Division for interrogation.

Pol. Col. Sittisak reported that the arrest operation had been meticulously planned for safety. The suspects provided inconsistent statements, admitting to splitting the stolen money but withholding specific details about the planning and execution of the crime. They confessed to changing their locations frequently to evade capture. The suspects are set to be processed legally at the Phaholyothin Police Station.

One suspect, Mr. Rungnirun, or Bo, 32, remains at large as police intensify efforts to bring him to justice. During the investigation, an object resembling a bomb was found. Upon inspection, it was confirmed to be a real MK2 explosive device, which was safely neutralized by EOD officers before being sent for forensic examination.
