Bangkok: Motorway M81 will be open for free use 24 hours a day, every day, starting October 31st. The Department of Highways invites the public to try out the new route connecting Bang Yai to Kanchanaburi.
According to Thai News Agency, the Department of Highways is preparing to launch a trial run of the 96-kilometer Bang Yai Kanchanaburi Motorway (M81), which will operate free of tolls daily, 24 hours a day, starting at 12:01 AM on October 31, 2025. This will allow the public to experience the actual route and travel to the western region more conveniently, quickly, and safely. The service is available to all types of vehicles using the motorway. During the trial run, the maximum speed limit for cars, pickup trucks, vans, trucks, and buses will be 80 kilometers per hour. Trailers will be limited to 65 kilometers per hour, as construction and system testing are ongoing to ensure road user safety.
The Department of Highways expects to fully open the service, including toll collection and a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h, by January 2026. Members of the public can inquire for more information by calling the Department of Highways hotline at 1586 (toll free 24 hours a day).
