Bangkok: "Kham" reveals that in 6 years, MotoGP in Thailand has created a value of 24 billion. Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the first MotoGP World Championship hosted by Thailand under the name of 'PT Grand Prix of Thailand 2025', held from February 28 to March 2, 2025 at Chang International Circuit, Buriram Province, was a success, with a high economic value of 5,043 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karam stated that the event attracted 224,634 participants, with 172,565 being Thais and 52,069 foreigners. The race stimulated spending of 4,268 million baht and created 7,772 jobs, while the government invested a budget of 775 million baht and collected over 318 million baht in taxes. Over the six years of hosting 'MotoGP', Thailand achieved a combined economic value of 24,853 million baht, marking a significant success for the World Grand Prix and Sport Tourism policies.
Attendance figures for previous events were 222,535 in 2018, 226,655 in 2019, 178,463 in 2022, 179,811 in 2023, 205,373 in 2024, and 224,634 in 2025. The economic circulation was 3,053 million baht in 2018, 3,457 million baht in 2019, 4,048 million baht in 2022, 4,493 million baht in 2023, and 4,759 million baht in 2024.
Mr. Karam highlighted that these competitions significantly contribute to various aspects of the country's development, including boosting domestic tourism, showcasing Thailand's capability to host international events, and supporting the local economy. The success underscores the collaboration between the government, private sector, and citizens, positioning Thailand as a central hub for world-class motorsports and enhancing national pride on the global stage.
