Ministry of Labor Establishes ‘Labor War Room’ for Earthquake Response

Bangkok: The Ministry of Labor has established a 'Labor War Room' to address the impact of recent earthquakes on workers and employers. This initiative aims to provide immediate support and assistance to those affected by the natural disaster.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, emphasized the Ministry's commitment to aiding workers and businesses impacted by the earthquakes. The 'Labor War Room' will serve as a central hub for receiving complaints, coordinating relief efforts, and expediting assistance, particularly focusing on labor-related issues. The Ministry has also dispatched teams to affected areas to assess the situation and offer comprehensive support to workers, businesses, and their families.

The Ministry of Labor has outlined specific groups eligible for assistance, which include employees unable to work temporarily due to the disaster, businesses disrupted by the earthquake, insured individuals who have sustained injuries or are unable to exercise their rights, and families of workers, civil servants, and officials in the affected regions.

The assistance provided by the Ministry includes guidance on utilizing social security benefits for disaster-related illnesses, advice on labor rights during periods of inactivity, damage assessment at workplaces to plan for compensation and recovery, and ongoing coordination with local employers to ensure workers are supported.
