Ministry of Interior to Compensate Victims of Tour Bus Accident in Bueng Kan

Bangkok: The Ministry of the Interior has announced compensation for victims of the recent municipal bus accident in Bueng Kan Province. Each victim is set to receive 500,000 baht as per the established system. The accident occurred when a sightseeing bus from Phra Charoen Municipality, on its way to Rayong, overturned in Nadi District, Prachin Buri Province, resulting in multiple fatalities.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the incident was reported through news channels. Emphasizing the need for a systematic approach, he mentioned that the compensation would be handled as per protocol, with each affected individual entitled to 500,000 baht.

Addressing concerns about the necessity for local administrative bodies to reassess long-distance field trips, Mr. Anutin highlighted that the focus should be on vehicle conditions, the adequacy of drivers for long journeys, and adherence to speed limits. He stressed the importance of waiting for the investigation results before drawing conclusions. Mr. Anutin also remarked that such incidents should not lead to blanket bans on field trips, as these activities are vital for economic development and skill enhancement. Instead, the emphasis should be on ensuring compliance with safety and traffic regulations.
