Minister of Tourism Proposes ‘Half-Half Thailand’ Project to Boost Economy

Bangkok: The Minister of Tourism is preparing to propose the "Half-Half Thailand" project to the Cabinet. It is anticipated that this initiative will be implemented starting July 1.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surawong Thienthong, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, discussed the project following a meeting with Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and various ministries, including Transport, Tourist Police, Public Health, and Interior. The meeting focused on improving the experiences of both Thai and foreign tourists within the country. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for convenience, safety, and cleanliness in tourist facilities, including bathrooms, parking, and resting areas. Despite a reported decrease in tourist numbers, the country's income from tourism has increased.

Additionally, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has requested a budget of 157 billion baht to support the "Half-Half Thailand" project. This proposal is expected to be presented at the Cabinet meeting in June. The initiative aims to enhance tourist confidence and contribute to economic stimulation, with an expected rollout beginning on July 1.
