Minister of Education Enforces Strict Compliance on Government Vehicle Use

Bangkok: The Ministry of Education has issued a directive prohibiting its personnel from using government vehicles for personal purposes, labeling such actions as serious disciplinary violations.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Phermpoon Chidchob, the Minister of Education, has signed an official order addressed to the heads of departments and organizations under the Ministry’s supervision. This order emphasizes the necessity for civil servants and personnel to adhere strictly to the regulations governing the use of official vehicles. The directive comes in the wake of social media reports on the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC)’s resolution to take action against teachers and educational personnel for misusing official vehicles for commuting between their homes and workplaces and unlawfully claiming fuel expenses from the government.

The Minister’s letter, dated May 30, 2025, instructs the departmental heads to ensure that their personnel are well informed about the legal requirements concerning the usage of government vehicles. Furthermore, it mandates the department heads to implement measures to clarify, instruct, and supervise their personnel to ensure strict compliance with these regulations. This move aims to curb the misuse of official vehicles and uphold accountability within the Ministry of Education.
