Nong Bua Lamphu: Narumon', Minister of Agriculture, launched a project to expand the production potential of rice seeds and quality rice of large-scale rice fields, aiming to enhance knowledge and develop farmers' potential to compete in the world market. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, presided over the opening ceremony of 'Technology Transfer Day to Expand the Potential of Rice Seed Production and Quality Rice under the Large-Scale Agricultural Promotion System Project 2025' in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. She stated that the Ministry of Agriculture has a policy to develop farmers' potential in producing rice seeds and quality rice, which focuses on promoting knowledge on proper and appropriate rice seed production so that farmers can apply knowledge on various production technologies to produce quality rice in their own areas.
According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon provided production factors, including 2,000 tons of rice seeds, 100 drones for surveying the area, and 10 rice seed sorting machines, to farmer representatives. In addition to developing farmers' potential in producing rice seeds and high-quality rice, which will help improve the quality of Thai rice in the global market competition, the Ministry of Agriculture also emphasizes increasing farmers' income and creating stability in farmers' careers, in line with the agricultural sector policy of 'Market-led, Innovation-enhanced, Increased Income.'
At present, Thailand has a rice-growing area of over 64.08 million rai, accounting for 43.38 percent of the total agricultural area. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, represented by the Rice Department, organized the 'Technology Transfer Day to Expand the Potential for Production of Rice Seeds and Good Quality Rice under the Large-Scale Agricultural Promotion System Project 2025' with the objective of promoting knowledge on reducing production costs, developing the potential for producing good quality rice seeds sufficient to meet consumer demand, and upgrading the quality of Thai rice to compete in the global market.
