Minister Narumon Implements OBEC Reporting Reduction Policy

Bangkok: Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat has announced a significant policy shift aimed at reducing the workload of teachers by cutting the OBEC reporting project to only 62 items, set to take effect next week.

According to Thai News Agency, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, the Minister of Education, has been at the forefront of this initiative, which analyzed and trimmed the original list from 114 items to 62. This reduction will apply across all school sizes, including small, medium, and large institutions, and aims to effectively lessen the administrative burden on teachers.

The policy also affects the ITA assessment, which now has fewer indicators, dropping from 28 to 17. This change will mean that only high schools and quality schools will be assessed, impacting approximately 1,000 schools out of 29,005 nationwide. The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has been tasked with coordinating further indicator reductions with the NACC.

This policy ensures that more than 500,000 teachers across the nation will have increased time to focus on teaching and student care, aiming to reduce stress and enhance job satisfaction by removing non-essential duties from their responsibilities.
