Sittichai Srisopacharoenrat, Deputy Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 4, disclosed the advancement of the disciplinary investigation committee concerning traffic police officers at Chokchai Police Station. The officers were seen in a video clip drinking and dancing at the station alongside colleagues from the Traffic Police Division. The Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 4 has tasked him with overseeing the matter. An officer from Chokchai Police Station, currently on vacation, is expected to return today for a fact-finding mission by the Superintendent, who will pursue disciplinary action. The investigation results and disciplinary measures are to be reported and concluded within the week. Meanwhile, the Traffic Police Officer involved has been detained for three days.
According to Thai News Agency, the behavior exhibited was deemed inappropriate, especially while in police uniform. Consequently, all officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau 4 have been cautioned against engaging in inappropriate conduct, which breaches both legal and disciplinary standards. Authorities believe this incident will serve as a deterrent, minimizing future misconduct among police officers.
Furthermore, besides the Traffic Police Division officers and the two identified Chokchai Police Station officers featured in the clip, two additional Chokchai Police Station officers were reportedly part of the drinking event. Their involvement in any wrongdoing remains under investigation, pending results from Chokchai Police Station. The issue of alcohol consumption within government offices is also under scrutiny to determine appropriate disciplinary actions.
