Metropolitan Police Bureau Sets Up Checkpoints to Ensure Safety Around Protest Area

Bangkok: The Metropolitan Police Bureau's Region 1 Commander has announced a strategic initiative to establish checkpoints aimed at preventing incidents and maintaining safety around the protest area from all directions.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Atthaporn Wongsiripreeda, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, outlined plans for managing the protest activities. The Metropolitan Police Bureau has collaborated with protest organizers in Bangkok and other relevant sectors to maintain peace and order among protesters and the surrounding public while ensuring smooth traffic management. Adjustments have been made to traffic plans, including the introduction of service lanes or special emergency lanes to prevent area closures. Additionally, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's deportation center and Medical Department have been informed to provide first aid in case of emergencies or illnesses.

To bolster security efforts, police officers will be deployed alongside EOD and K-9 teams to monitor the surrounding area. Although traffic is currently operating normally, there is potential for delays if the protest crowds grow larger. The Metropolitan Police Bureau, in cooperation with protesters, will keep service lanes open around Victory Monument, ensuring that roads are not completely blocked. Consequently, traffic may slow somewhat this afternoon, but movement will continue.

For enhanced security, checkpoints have been established to monitor all directions around Victory Monument. Protest leaders have confirmed that their rally plans and speeches adhere to legal frameworks, indicating a commitment to a peaceful demonstration.
