Meteorological Department Warns Northern Thailand to Brace for Summer Storms

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department warns the upper part of Thailand to prepare for summer storms, thunderstorms, strong winds and hail in some areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has announced that the upper part of Thailand will experience a summer storm, which will be characterized by thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in some areas. Lightning may also occur in some areas due to the high-pressure area or moderate cold air mass from China spreading down to cover the Northeast and the South China Sea. While Thailand is hot, people in the aforementioned areas should be careful of the dangers of the summer storm by avoiding traveling through areas with thunderstorms, staying in open areas, under large trees, buildings, and weak billboards. Farmers should prepare to prevent possible damage to agricultural products and livestock, and take care of their health during the changing weather.

For the easterly winds, blowing across the Gulf of Thailand, the South and the Andaman Sea, the South will experience thunderstorms in some areas. The waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will be about 1 meter high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves will be higher than 2 meters.

In addition, during 31 March - 3 April 2025, there will be an easterly wind current moving through the eastern region, the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region. In addition, the easterly and southeasterly winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region and the Andaman Sea will start to get stronger, causing the southern region to have more rain, with some areas having heavy to very heavy rain and some areas having strong gusts of wind.

Weather conditions affecting dust accumulation during this period: Dust/smog accumulation in the upper part of Thailand is moderate to high and tends to decrease because the wind covering the area will be stronger.
