‘Maya Bay-Koh Tao’ Captivates Global Attention as Top Instagram-Worthy Beaches

Bangkok: Ao Maya wins the title of the most beautiful beach for photography in the world! Koh Tao is in the Top 10, reflecting the charm of the southern sea, the power of Thai soft power, attracting the eyes of the world through social media.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that Heepsy, a global marketing platform, ranked the most beautiful beaches in the world on Instagram. It was found that there were 2 Thai beaches in the rankings: Maya Bay in Krabi Province was ranked as the number 1 beach in the world for beautiful photos, and Koh Tao in Surat Thani Province was ranked 9th.

To come up with the rankings, an analysis was conducted that took into account the total number of hashtags associated with each beach, the length of the beach, and estimated annual visitor numbers to calculate the beaches with the most online mentions per meter and the ones people were most likely to post about on Instagram.

The research results show that 'Maya Bay' in Krabi Province has been honored as the world's number 1 most photographed beach with 2.2 million hashtags per meter. Although Maya Bay is only 250 meters long, it attracts up to 2 million tourists per year to experience its beauty, making it the highest number of posts in the world.

In addition, 'Koh Tao' in Surat Thani Province is ranked 9th and is recognized as one of the best diving and snorkeling destinations in the world. With beautiful colorful corals and diverse marine life, as well as quiet beaches, clear blue waters, and a relaxing atmosphere, it is an ideal place for taking photos and creating impressive content for social media.

'Thailand's southern sea remains attractive throughout the year and continues to impress both Thai and international tourists. This ranking is good news for the Thai tourism industry, reflecting the potential to attract digital tourists and create buzz on social media, which is a key factor in travel decisions and encouraging repeat visits.

However, the success will be sustainable and maintain the standard only if all sectors work together to conserve nature and take care of tourist attractions to maintain their beauty and become popular destinations worldwide,' said Ms. Sasikarn.
