Bangkok: Minister of Foreign Affairs urges Thais in Israel and Iran to consider leaving dangerous areas, do not delay, urges embassies to facilitate Thais to be safe. Mr. Maris Sangiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, calling on Thai people to 'leave' the areas targeted by the attacks and nearby areas. In the immediate term, he has sent high-ranking officials to lead a team from the central office in Thailand to support the mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Israel and Iran, so that Thai people can be helped in a timely manner.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Maris also emphasized that over the past 2 days, he has been closely monitoring the situation with the executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies and consulates-general in the Middle East region to assess the situation. He has been informed that currently in Iran, there are 35 Thais staying in temporary shelters and 5 people have expressed their intention to leave Iran. In Israel, there are 3 Thais who have expressed their intention to leave Israel. He has instructed the embassies in both countries to facilitate all Thais to leave the area as soon as it is safe.
Mr. Maris also emphasized that the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is ready to take care of Thais abroad, but would like to ask them to consider leaving the dangerous area while they are still able to travel.
