Man Fatally Stabs Himself in Neck After Dispute Over Loud Music

Rayong: A 28-year-old man died tragically after an altercation over loud music led him to fatally stab himself in the neck. Neighbors reported that the incident involved a drunk individual creating a disturbance in the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the deceased, identified as Mr. Sumet, was found with a neck wound near Soi Sriphong in Nikhom Phatthana District. Despite rescue workers' attempts to revive him through CPR and rushing him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Mr. Athit, 42, was arrested at the scene. He was intoxicated and claimed to have limited recollection of the events. He stated that he had been drinking at his rented house with loud music playing from his car. When Mr. Sumet asked him to lower the volume, an argument ensued. Mr. Athit alleged that Mr. Sumet threatened him with an iron object, prompting him to retaliate with a pocket knife. The police recovered the weapon, stained with blood, from Mr. Athit's vehicle and took him into custody.

Witnesses at the scene recounted that Mr. Athit had been drinking since early evening and was playing excessively loud music. Although the disturbance was bothersome, only Mr. Sumet confronted him. Initially, Mr. Athit appeared cooperative, but the situation escalated, leading to the fatal incident.

Neighbors described Mr. Sumet as a good person and expressed disbelief over the tragic event, especially considering his role as a father to a 3-year-old son. The police have begun questioning other individuals who were drinking in the area at the time as part of their investigation into the case.
