Nonthaburi: A young man who was accused of molesting a female student in a van has apologized, claiming the act was unintentional. He stated that he had been sleep-deprived at the time of the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved a 19-year-old university student, Ms. Fah (pseudonym), who recorded a video as evidence after accusing a man of grabbing her thigh and attempting to lift her skirt while she was traveling to school. The man, identified as Mr. A (pseudonym), denied the allegations, claiming he was asleep. The situation escalated into a heated argument on the van on September 12th, around 8:30 a.m.
Following the incident, Ms. Fah filed a police report, seeking legal advice from Dr. Pramet Chaiphacharakulphong, or Dr. Kaew, founder of the "Dr. Kaew Can Help" page. On September 21, at Rattanathibet Police Station, both parties met for mediation. Mr. A, a 46-year-old company employee, explained that he was traveling from Nakhon Thong Village 2 to his workplace and accidentally touched the victim due to lack of sleep. He apologized to Ms. Fah and her family, stressing he had no indecent intentions.
Ms. Fah expressed satisfaction with the apology and decided not to pursue the matter further. She emphasized the importance of vigilance for women using public transportation and urged the public to remain observant to prevent similar incidents. Dr. Kaew confirmed that both parties reached a mutual understanding and forgiveness, with a report filed at the police station as evidence of the settlement.
