Kalasin: The 2nd Army Area Commander, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, has decided not to pursue a political career after his retirement, despite public pressure and significant achievements during his tenure.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Boonsin, also known as "Big Kung," participated in a ceremonial event honoring Luang Pu Sila at Wat Suan Thammapiti in Kalasin Province. The event involved the raising of the main pillar of the Non Sao E Chedi, attended by tens of thousands of Buddhists. The commander has been the subject of speculation and public demand for him to either extend his term or transition into a political role due to his laudable leadership in the Second Army Region.
During the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Boonsin addressed the crowd and clarified his post-retirement intentions. He expressed his commitment to continuing to serve Thailand as a reserve soldier and a responsible citizen, explicitly stating his decision to refrain from engaging in politics. His focus, he emphasized, would remain on serving the nation in capacities that align with his expertise and dedication.
