Khon Kaen: Khon Kaen's Irrigation Canal is one of the most popular options for playing Songkran while waiting to get wet at the main event venue, Khao Niao Road. Khon Kaen residents and tourists of all ages brought their children to play in the water to cool off in the Ban Kota-Nong Hin irrigation canal, Sila sub-district, Mueang Khon Kaen district, Khon Kaen province, on the occasion of the Songkran festival and Family Day.
According to Thai News Agency, there are more than 100 food and beverage shops along the canal within a 200-meter radius, open from 8 am to 4-5 pm. Some groups choose this spot as their main and only spot to play water to celebrate Songkran, especially groups of parents with young children. As for adults, they use this spot to celebrate during the day and then move on to play Songkran in the city at night, both on Khao Niao Road and the surrounding streets.
Irrigation canals at this point have been popular for 5-6 years, but have clearly boomed in the last 2-3 years. The golden time for merchants is not only during Songkran, but throughout the hot season from the end of February onwards. It gives rise to many businesses, such as shop rentals, toilets, parking, tables, chairs, mats, life jackets, and floats, which generate a lot of money.
As for news from Khao Niao Road, because last night was the first day, there was a lack of coordination in playing the human wave without alcohol. Today, there will be an adjustment of the plan by using the central stage to control the playing instead.
