Bangkok: "Lindhiporn" 319 highest votes of confidence in the Prime Minister reflects the state of a leader who is trusted, proving that "deals for the country" are not real, disappointed with the opposition's debate summarizing the news of the year, the content is light, in the end, the time was not used up.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Linthiporn Warinwatcharoj, MP for the party list and deputy secretary-general of the Pheu Thai Party, voiced her views following the House of Representatives' vote of confidence in Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra. During the censure debate held from March 24-25, 2025, Ms. Shinawatra showcased her leadership qualities, including composure and decisiveness, effectively countering the opposition's allegations, which were largely rhetorical and sarcastic. Consequently, Prime Minister Paethongtarn received a record-breaking 319 votes of support out of 487, surpassing the previous record of 308 votes for former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in 2012.
Ms. Linthiporn expressed her disappointment with the opposition's approach during the debate, which she felt lacked substance and focused more on political maneuvering rather than constructive criticism. She noted that the opposition seemed more concerned with maintaining their internal objectives rather than engaging in meaningful dialogue. Ms. Linthiporn remains confident that the public will discern the government's sincerity in addressing longstanding national issues and its efforts towards economic recovery, dismissing the notion of a "country-swap deal" as baseless.
The opposition initially requested a five-day debate, which was agreed to be concluded in 28 hours. However, the debate lasted only 23 hours and 33 minutes. Ms. Linthiporn questioned the opposition's claims of insufficient time, suggesting that they may have exaggerated the situation to capture public attention. Despite her criticisms, she acknowledged the importance of parliamentary scrutiny, which she sees as a vital aspect of democracy that encourages the government to operate with greater precision and diligence for the benefit of the country.
Ms. Linthiporn further criticized the opposition's portrayal of the "country-swap deal," describing it as an empty narrative that fails to acknowledge the government's accomplishments under Prime Minister Paethongtarn. She emphasized the administration's commitment to improving the quality of life for Thai citizens, focusing on enhancing their access to resources, financial stability, and overall dignity.
