Lawyer Counters Corrections Department, Former Pol. Col. Joe Did Not Voluntarily Request Solitary Confinement

Bangkok: At 1:10 p.m., reporters reported that the officers of Klong Prem Central Prison took the body of Pol. Col. Thitisan or Director Joe for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ministry of Justice. The relatives did not answer questions or give any interviews to the media, but instead asked Mr. Wirasak Nakin, Director Joe's lawyer, to clarify and hand over documents to the media.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wirasak revealed that previously, Superintendent Joe had apologized to the parents of the deceased in the past drug case where the deceased was covered in a black bag. Currently, Superintendent Joe's family is still grieving and still concerned about the cause of death. Previously, on January 14, the relatives had assigned him to file a complaint at Prachachuen Police Station about Superintendent Joe being physically assaulted by prison officers. The document listed the name of the prison guard who was the other party. Later, a disciplinary committee was set up to investigate Superintendent Joe according to regulations. It was reported that Superintendent Joe had resisted the officer's orders, which led to him being transferred to a separate cell, which was in accordance with the order of the Commander of Klong Prem Central Prison. It did not come from Superintendent Joe's own free will. However, the officer gave an interview to the media saying that Superintendent Joe willi ngly requested to be placed in a solitary cell.

As for the part that stated that Director Joe is a mental patient, it is confirmed that it is not true because there have been visits to Director Joe for a long time without any mention of this matter. Most recently, yesterday, relatives visited Director Joe and he was in normal condition. They also talked about fighting the case in the appeals and talked about their future life after being released from prison. Since becoming a lawyer in 2023, they have visited him regularly. Director Joe is not stressed or worried to the point of harming himself because the black bag case has already been ruled on, which is in the appeals stage. As for the case with the NACC, the investigation is temporarily suspended at this stage. Therefore, there is no motive for Director Joe to commit suicide. The motive is believed to be that he may have been pressured to agree to the disciplinary investigation after filing a complaint.
