Launch of Commemorative Book Celebrating Queen’s Birthday and Thai Fabric Initiative

Bangkok: The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a book in honor of Her Majesty the Queen's 39th birthday, titled "Siriwanvari Nariratana Rajapastraporn," following the royal initiative "Wear Thai Fabric for Fun." The initiative encourages the wearing of Thai fabrics and royal Thai costumes to foster national pride and prevent imitation by other nations.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, led the press conference to introduce the book. The event was attended by Mrs. Jinnarat Sampantharat, President of the Ministry of Interior Housewives Association, and the advisory team for the "Fun to Wear Thai Fabrics" project. The book aims to inspire the creation of contemporary Thai fabrics and handicrafts.

Mr. Arsit explained that the Ministry of Interior embraced the idea of "Thai fabric, wear it for fun" from Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Kanya. This initiative continues the aspirations of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Known for her historical contributions to Thai fabric design, Pierre Balmain has been a notable figure in this context. Princess Sirivannavari emphasizes the importance of preserving Thai textile traditions and ensuring they remain integral to Thai heritage.

The Ministry of Interior's history outlines four key contributions of His Majesty. Firstly, as an inspiration to civil servants and personnel, His Majesty has bestowed medals that motivate service for the betterment of the people. Secondly, His Majesty's genius is evident through his guidance, which connects national gurus and renowned designers with the public. This has significantly boosted the textile and handicraft sectors. Thirdly, His Majesty has collaborated with the Ministry of Interior to promote Thai fabric wearing, enhancing the grassroots economy and improving quality of life. Lastly, the book aims to inspire others to contribute to sustainable developments in Thai society.

Ms. Jinnarat highlighted the intertwined nature of women and fashion, with the Interior Ministry Housewives Association playing a vital role in the "Fun with Thai Fabric" project. By showcasing Thai fabrics during events and field visits, the association emphasizes their beauty and cultural significance. Ms. Jinnarat urged everyone to wear Thai fabrics, share their experiences on social media, and support the local economy. Wearing Thai fabrics, including the eight styles of royal Thai dresses, fosters national pride and helps maintain the uniqueness of Thai cultural attire.
