Korat Zoo’s Free Admission for Children Causes Traffic Jam Over 1 Km

Nakhon Ratchasima: Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday celebration at Korat Zoo attracted a significant number of visitors, leading to long traffic jams as parents brought their children to enjoy free admission.

According to Thai News Agency, the road conditions on Highway 2310 in front of the Korat Zoo entrance were heavily congested as tourists flocked to the site. Traffic stretched over 1 kilometer, extending from the zoo entrance to the traffic light intersection on Highway 304. The large crowds were drawn by the long holiday and a special promotion offering free admission for children no taller than 135 centimeters or no older than 12 years old in honor of Her Majesty the Queen's birthday. This promotion is available at all locations nationwide under the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand under Royal Patronage. Inside the zoo, popular attractions include the seal show zone, pygmy hippo zone, water park zone, and the giraffe zone, where visitors can feed giraffes up close.

Visitors also flocked to the Khao Yai Thiang wind turbines, a well-known landmark in Korat. During the extended holiday, both locals and tourists visited the upper reservoir of the Lam Takhong Chonlapawatana Power Plant, situated on Khao Yai Thiang in the Sikhio District. This area, managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, serves as a key check-in point for tourists in Korat. Visitors can enjoy views of 14 giant wind turbines along Khao Yai Thiang's wind ridge, as well as the natural scenery and the sunrise and sunset. Additionally, the area offers picturesque views of Lam Takhong Reservoir, Mittraphap Road, and the M6 Motorway. For those preferring not to walk, bicycles and golf carts are available for rent, providing a convenient way to experience the surroundings.
