Kla Tham Party Asserts Right to Nominate First Deputy Speaker of the House

Bangkok: Kla Tham Party spokesperson has emphasized the party's constitutional right to propose Sathira Pueakpraphan as the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akkhasan Khiri Lohwira, MP for Chaiyaphum and spokesperson for the Kla Dham Party, addressed the nomination of Mr. Satira Pueakpraphan, MP for Chonburi, for the position of First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. This nomination follows the resignation of Mr. Pichet Chuamuangphan. Mr. Akkhasan stated that the Kla Dham Party is prepared to nominate a candidate for the position, emphasizing that it is within its constitutional right to do so. However, an official decision is pending as further discussions and agreements are required between Kla Dham Party leaders and other coalition parties.

Mr. Akkhasan expressed confidence that there would be no competing nominations on the day of the vote. He emphasized the importance of coalition parties reaching an agreement before any conclusion is drawn, highlighting the significance of this issue.

When questioned about the Kla Party's interest in filling positions from Second Deputy Speaker to First Deputy Speaker, Mr. Akkhasan reiterated that it is a constitutional right. He expressed confidence in the party's MPs, asserting their potential to serve as Deputy Speakers.

Addressing concerns about the experience of the nominated MPs, Mr. Akkhasan argued that all MPs, regardless of their tenure, serve as representatives of the people and have an equal right to be nominated as Deputy Speaker. He assured that the Kla Party has qualified individuals for the role, though discussions are still ongoing.

"MPs from the Kla Tham Party have the potential to serve as Deputy Speakers of the House. Regarding the observation that the nominated individuals are short-term MPs, I believe that everyone has come to represent the people. Everyone has the right to nominate a Deputy Speaker of the House. The Kla Tham Party has personnel with the potential to serve as Deputy Speakers of the House. However, this matter must be discussed to a final conclusion," said Mr. Akkhasan Khiri.
