Bangkok: 'Jiraporn', representative of the Prime Minister, opens 'LOVE PRIDE PARADE 2025', emphasizing cooperation from all sectors to move forward and create equality for all genders.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuprai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, as a representative of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, presided over the opening of "LOVE PRIDE PARADE 2025" at the National Stadium, Suphachalasai. She joined the parade alongside Mr. Settha Thavisin, former Prime Minister, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, Ms. Supalak Umpuj, Vice President of the Civil Sector Network, as well as representatives of government agencies, private sector organizations, and civil society in honor of the opening ceremony.
The event was organized with the cooperation of more than 200 public and private sector organizations, coming together to create a grand parade. This event reflected the power of diversity and equality in Thai society.
Ms. Jiraporn highlighted that this year marks a historic step for Thailand, as the country has officially announced the implementation of the Marriage Equality Act. With this, Thailand becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to have such a law come into effect. She noted that this development is a starting point for promoting rights and freedoms across various dimensions for all societal groups. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, is ready to support activities promoting equality, especially during June or Pride Month, which is dedicated to celebrating the rights and freedoms associated with equality.
Furthermore, Ms. Jiraporn stated that the activities during Pride Month support equality and diversity, crucial contexts in Thai society. These activities also enhance Thailand's image as a leader in organizing world-class festivals in the region. They present soft power and Thai identity to a global audience, aiding in promoting the country's tourism. Organizing events throughout the month reflects the pride of Thai people in evolving into a truly open and equal society.
