Bangkok: “Thailand-Cambodia” issued a statement emphasizing the importance of using the Joint Border Commission (JBC) mechanism to negotiate border issues between each other and to work together peacefully under the MOU43 framework.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasarn Prasarnvinitchai, Chairman of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), chaired the 6th meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) together with Mr. Lam Chea, Minister in charge of border affairs and Head of the Secretariat of the National Border Affairs of Cambodia, Co-Chair of the Cambodian side.
Both sides reiterated the importance of using the mechanism of the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to negotiate the boundary issues between each other and to work together peacefully under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Survey and Demarcation of Land Boundary 2000 (MOU 43) for the benefit of resolving the border issue and reducing the existing tension.
The committees of both sides consist of representatives from relevant technical agencies, such as the Department of Treaties and Laws, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Military Survey Department, Army, Navy, Secretariat of National Border Affairs of Cambodia (equivalent to a ministry), Ministry of Defense of Cambodia, various armed forces of Cambodia, as well as governors of all Cambodian Thai-Cambodian border provinces.
