Bangkok: "Maris" has confirmed that the Joint Boundary Committee (JBC) meeting scheduled for June 14 will proceed as planned, amidst improving conditions at the Thai-Cambodian border.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Maris Sengiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, provided an update on the border situation, highlighting significant improvements. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations during misunderstandings and stressed the government's commitment to resolving issues through diplomacy rather than emotional responses. This approach, he noted, serves as an important lesson.
Mr. Maris acknowledged the government's efforts to address the situation, emphasizing that while retaliation might be straightforward, the focus has been on peaceful resolutions to achieve positive outcomes. He expressed confidence in the Thai-Cambodian Joint Committee's capacity to negotiate effectively, citing the current favorable atmosphere as a result of patience from all parties involved. He also extended his gratitude to the military and various sectors of the government for their role in fostering strong bilateral relations.
