Bangkok: ICONSIAM, a prominent landmark on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the People's Republic of China by organizing three significant events highlighting Chinese arts and culture. This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange and strengthen the relationship between the two nations.

According to Thai News Agency, ICONSIAM has partnered with various organizations to present the 'Yuyuan Lantern Art Festival', 'Earth-Shaking Opera', and an exhibition featuring 'Leo Huang's popular art toy characters'. These events are designed to provide Thai audiences with a unique opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of China. This celebration underscores ICONSIAM's commitment to being a 'Global Experiential Destination', promoting international artistic cooperation and cultural exchange.

Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, Managing Director of ICONSIAM Co., Ltd., emphasized the importance of these events in commemorating the 50-year diplomatic relationship. He stated that ICONSIAM is dedicated to organizing world-class events that offer memorable experiences and connect people globally. The events are not only a celebration of the past five decades but also a platform for future cooperation between Thailand and China.

The centerpiece of the celebration is the 'Spirit of Mountains and Seas Yuyuan Lantern Festival', held in collaboration with Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Group Co., Ltd. and Intersteps Co., Ltd. This festival, inspired by the ancient Chinese text 'Shanhai Jing', will showcase traditional lantern art at ICONSIAM's River Park from June 27 to August 15, 2025. It aims to reflect Chinese culture's essence while celebrating the friendship between the two countries.

In addition, the festival will feature various cultural activities, including performances, markets, and exhibitions promoting Thai-Chinese cultural exchange. Another highlight is the exhibition of art toys by renowned artist Leo Huang, in collaboration with YIMU ART. This exhibition will run from July 2 to August 15, 2025, at ICONSIAM, showcasing works that symbolize cross-cultural friendship.

Finally, the celebration will feature the 'Greatest Opera in the World, Shantou Teochew Chinese Opera Show' by the renowned 'Kung Tang Tie Kee Yi Yi Tong Chinese Opera Troupe'. This opera, celebrated for its emotional performances and cultural significance, will be staged from July 10-16, 2025, at True Icon Hall, offering audiences a glimpse into China's esteemed performing arts tradition.

These events exemplify ICONSIAM's role in promoting cultural understanding and collaboration, marking a significant milestone in Thai-Chinese relations.
