Husband Receives Wife’s Body After State Audit Office Building Collapse

Bangkok: The husband of Ms. Wiphakham, a 40-year-old victim of the State Audit Office building collapse, arrived at the Police General Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine to receive her body. She was the 13th casualty identified following the tragic incident. He recognized her immediately by the ring she wore, a cherished possession that cost only 50 baht but held significant sentimental value.

According to Thai News Agency, on the day of the incident, both the husband and wife were working at the site but were outside the building during the lunch break, which spared his life. His wife was responsible for operating the elevator to transport workers, while he was tasked with signaling the crane from the roof. They had shared a meal together and discussed mundane topics, unaware it would be their last conversation. At the time of the collapse, she was on the 28th floor, and he was in front of the building.

He expressed his intention to take his wife's body back to Phusing District in Sisaket Province for religious rites. Despite the tragedy, he plans to continue working as a hired laborer to support his family and children financially.
