Bangkok: Huai Khwang Police Station raided a dice gambling den in the Mengjai area, arresting 23 gamblers. At 12:30 a.m. on August 4, 2015, Huai Khwang Police Station officers, in conjunction with the Crime Suppression Division of Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 1 and the Crime Suppression Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, raided and arrested 23 dice game gamblers inside an unnumbered rental room at the Pracha Uthit (Meng Jai) intersection on Pracha Uthit Road in Samsen Nok Subdistrict, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, this operation was carried out under the policy of Pol. Col. Prasopchok Iampinij, Superintendent of Huai Khwang Police Station, and Pol. Col. Wichai Sonsakul, Superintendent of Investigation Division, Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 1, after receiving a tip from an informant that gambling was taking place in the area.
As soon as the officers arrived at the target location, they found a group of 14 men and 9 women gambling together, without fear of the law. Mr. Rachasak admitted to being the bookie and organizer of the gambling, and stated that the gambling den had only been open for three days. The officers then arrested all the suspects.
From the search, officers seized evidence including a set of dice and dice, a score board, and 5,370 baht in cash. All suspects were initially charged with "jointly engaging in illegal gambling without permission" before being taken to investigators at Huai Khwang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
