House lauds government over G20 Summit success

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has praised the Indonesian government for the successful implementation of the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15–16, 2022.

“The G20 (Summit) ran smoothly. Of course, we appreciate all parties, particularly the government of the Republic of Indonesia for their success in organizing the G20 (Summit). The success has made Indonesia increasingly popular in the world,” he said at the parliament building here on Friday.

Ahmad also lauded the preparedness of the Indonesian Police (Polri), the National Defense Forces (TNI), and the State Intelligence Board (BIN) in ensuring that the summit ran peacefully.

“We appreciate the law enforcement agencies, including Polri, TNI, and BIN, that have worked hard to make the G20 (Summit) a success without any incident that we did not want to,” he added.

He expressed the hope that the cooperation seen among various parties during the summit would be intensified during similar events in the future.

During the summit hosted by Indonesia this year, the G20 leaders endorsed a declaration on three priority issues–global health architecture, sustainable energy transition, and digital transformation.

Indonesia took over the G20 Presidency from Italy in 2021.
