High-Society Figure Arrested in Bangkok with Arsenal of Weapons and Drugs

Bangkok: A well-known socialite, identified as 33-year-old Thai national Thanat, or "Hi-So Luk Nut," was apprehended in a dramatic police operation that uncovered over 20 firearms, significant amounts of ammunition, and cocaine in his possession. The arrest took place after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence in Bangkok's Suan Luang District.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation was carried out by the Child and Women Protection Division (CWD) following a warrant issued by the Phra Khanong Criminal Court. The search revealed an assortment of firearms, including a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a shotgun, a .357 Colt Python revolver, and a BERETTA 692 twin-barreled shotgun. Additionally, over 2,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, firearm magazines, and narcotics paraphernalia were seized.

The investigation was initiated after a report from a good Samaritan and the victim, Ms. B, who was allegedly threatened and assaulted by Luk Nut. Ms. B reported that during a social gathering at Luk Nut's house, he brandished a gun, slapped her, and coerced her into taking drugs. Despite her refusal, she was assaulted and eventually forced him to ingest the drugs. While Luk Nut was incapacitated from the drugs, Ms. B captured photographic evidence and escaped to report the incident to the authorities.

The police investigation led to the search warrant, during which Luk Nut appeared under the influence but was coherent enough to assist officers in their search. He was subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of cocaine, a Category 2 narcotic.

Local residents have expressed concerns, noting frequent disturbances and reports of young women seen distressed in the vicinity of Luk Nut's residence. The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) is urging any additional victims to come forward and file complaints with the CSD or Khlong Tan Police Station.
